TRASH / Julian Rood

The idea behind this project was to take previously used paper towels and re-purpose them to send a message. One would have to adhere used towels together and write a message on them. One would also have to break into the paper towel dispenser and place the re-purposed towels with in.

Culture Shock, Future Shock, & Cargo Cults/ Julian Rood

For this project I created a zine. The contents of the zine consisted of a definition of culture shock, future shock, and cargo cults. I found parallels between these three subjects and resolved with the question "If we were to apply the same effect that culture shock has had on the Cargo Cults to Alvin Toffler's idea of Future Shock, what kinds of rituals and objects of worship would future societies create?"

Confirm & Ignore / Julian Rood

For this project I created dummy copies of the confirm and ignore buttons from facebooks friend request function. I had each person take one ignore, one confirm and give each to another person in the room. The purpose of this was to make an analogy between the rituals that cargo cults participated in post world war II and what it might look like if we were to be a "cargo cult" with in contemporary society.
