STEPHANIE TREINEN // IDEA MECHANICS
Artist: Tadanori Yokoo
Movie: Logan's Run
Food: Enchiladas
Song: Yoshimi Battles The Pink Robots Pt. 1
Person: my great aunt Satoko
What my choices all had in common was the mixture of time, history and culture and how they effect our lives. How do moments in life effect our reactions, opinions, and futures? How do we let life's outside forces form our identities and experiences? The intention of my project proposals was to ask yourself these questions and to embark on a sort of personal journey that exposes these moments and experiences that have formed your identity. I think in these kinds of explorations you can stumble upon things you never realized effected you so greatly.
Robyn's Rebranding: Caterpillar
For this exercise, I investigeted Catepillar's involvement with Isreali groups that use Cat bulldozers to demolish homes and lives of Palestinian citizens.
SONY Style Guide - Lindsey
I interned for Sony Music last summer and I decided to focus on a re-design Sony's logo in this style guide exercise. Through my research, I discovered that while Sony presents itself as a charitable company, the bulk of their donations go to Culver City. The majority of their donations are directed towards Culver City because its headquarters is located there as well. This process allows Sony to claim that they are a charitable company while they are really just recycling money and talent back into their company.
A Day Without Art: T-shirt Graphic
Is it necessary i post this if its already on the website? Maybe, so i will. The t-shirt graphic i made in conjunction with helping gather content for the flyer as well as miscellaneous other tasks along with everyone else.

coca-cola "It harms the children" (brennah/brand)
To rebrand coca-cola I decided to follow what they do most and redesign the can it self. For different seasons and holidays coca-cola redecorates the outside of the cans to match whats happening during those holiday events. The top poster show an example of the summer season cans. On the poster below I redesigned the cans to show the truth about what coca-cola brand is all about. coca-cola can slowly break down the human immune system, it can cause diabetes or make it worse, and of corse coca-cola is a monopolistic business practice. There are of corse a long list of flaws and hidden secrets about coca-cola and different seasons can have different cans showing those hidden horrible things.

Lights, Camera, Action: California, Really
by Anna Olinova
The wonderful brand that is California,
like any other brand, has it's share of mis-truths.

Brand/Re-Brand: Philip Morris
I chose to research Philip Morris, the leading manufacturer of cigarettes and other tobacco products. I found myself stuck early on with the fact that nothing about this company is good, and that they no longer seem to hide it. However the way they presented this information on their website, in an emotionless and stark presentation that referenced medical documents, i found interesting. I wanted to highlight the layers upon layers of bad shit going on with this company and their products, and their intention on putting it all out there.
Philip Morris: in their own eyes...
Phillip Morris: what they really stand for...
My re-branding of Altria, Philip Morris' parent company:
My re-branding of Philip Morris' logo:
The main focus of the company is to improve the lives (and bank accounts) of its owners and shareholders who are not concerned with the deadly and addictive qualities of their product. The real representation of Philip Morris is the lives its product has taken, and will in the future. God Bless America for giving us the opportunity to capitalize on poisoning others.
